Statistical Software *Not Required for This Course
Lean Sigma Corporation publishes books and eLearning content for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma using statistical software references for data analysis common to Six Sigma. These statistical software references provide step-by-step instructions on performing statistical analysis using one of three statistical analysis software applications: Minitab, JMP, or SigmaXL.
Each course uses these references. However, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training is the only course that requires the use of Minitab for completion. All other courses do not require statistical software to complete. To maximize your learning and the value you can take away from any of our training courses, We recommend you download a free 30-day trial of the software you prefer and learn to use it throughout your course. Depending on your specific needs and preferences, you can choose to use the software that best suits your project needs or place of employment. All of our eBooks, Training Slides, PowerPoints, and Courses are published with the help of these tools.

Minitab v.21
Minitab is a powerful statistical software application widely used in the Six Sigma industry. It is the default statistical analysis software for Black Belts and above. They will use Minitab for data analysis, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, control charting, and many other applications.
Our content and eBooks contain step-by-step instructions using Minitab. Instructions are compatible with version 21.
JMP v.17
JMP is a statistical software package that emphasizes data visualization and exploration. It's known for its dynamic graphical interface, which allows Lean Six Sigma professionals to explore data, identify trends, and discover insights quickly. JMP is useful for experimental design, and predictive modeling.
Our content and eBooks contain step-by-step instructions using JMP. Instructions are compatible with version 17.
SigmaXL v.9
SigmaXL is another popular statistical software application used in the Six Sigma industry. It's a Microsoft Excel based tool (add-on) making it accessible to nearly any business person with a laptop. SigmaXL is designed after Minitab and convieniently and affordably finds it's way into their Microsoft Excel Ribbon.

Certification Exam Details
The Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma certification exams are identical, except the Six Sigma exam question pool does not contain Lean-related questions. For all other reasons, the two exams are alike.
Each exam is time-restricted (see table at right for duration per exam). All exams cover our published Lean Six Sigma Curriculum. (the Six Sigma curriculum has the Lean elements removed). The passing score is 80% for all exams.
All students get two attempts. The exam is administered online. You will need a reliable internet connection, a personal computer, and a web browser.
The exam interface will allow you to flag questions for review before submission. If you do not submit your test before your allotted time, the test will auto-submit once your testing time has expired.
Exam Question Types
- Single Choice (84%) - there will only be one "single" correct response
- Multiple Choice (14% ) - there may be more than one correct response
- Matrix Sorting (2%) - required to move items into the correct locations
Certification
Completing the certification exam successfully will earn you the Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certification designation. We will issue you a certification serial number, list you in our Official Certification Directory, and issue a digital certificate with our accreditation and certification seals affixed.
Exam Resets
All students get two attempts at their certification exam. If unsuccessful after two attempts, you may reset your exam from your account by making the appropriate exam reset payment.
